Trans-nasal, disposable system for upper GI screening
E.G.Scan is system that has been designed to visualise upper GI conditions such as inflammation, Barretts Oesophagus and ulcers, without the need of patient sedation. The doctor can capture images, has controlled angulations of the probe
and produce a report on the findings.
Using their MiroCam capsule endoscopy technology, Intromedic have designed the
E.G.Scan to be small, portable and disposable, giving doctors the freedom to use the system outside of endoscopy or theatres.
The system comprises of 3 parts – A touch screen display monitor, controller and the disposable capsule probe.

Advantages offered by E.G.Scan include:
- Disposable Probe: after looking at the oesophagus and stomach the probe is disconnected from the controller and discarded, therefore eliminating the need for cleaning and reducing he risk of contamination.
- No sedation required: the E.G.Scan probe is inserted trans-nasally therefore eliminating the need of patient sedation. Only xylocaine is used to numb the nasal passage to increase patient comfort.
- Control: with a 60° bending angle in both up and down directions, doctors can have a thorough check around any suspicious areas.
- Immediate results: the E.G.Scan can be used anywhere, therefore instead of patients having to wait for an endoscopy, doctors can assess the patient in clinic and provide them with an instant result.
- No obstruction risk: since the capsule is attached to the probe it is removed from the patient once the test has finished, therefore eliminating any obstruction risk through the digestive tract.
Analysis & Report: Doctors can capture images throughout the procedure and analyse them after the test and are included on the final report.
- Portable: the complete E.G.Scan system fits into a carry brief case making it easy to transport to different places where the procedure can be carried out.
